BLACK TENT TOWER

BLACK TENT TOWER

25 AUGUST – 15 SEPTEMBER 2012
ARCHITECTS: ANNE PIND & MADS HOVGAARD LAURSEN
CURATOR: MARIE BRUUN YDE

BLACK TENT TOWER is the last project that InstantHERLEV institute presents at Krøyers Plads.
It is at the same time a film theatre, a vantage point and a public monument.

BLACK TENT TOWER is a tent in the sense that the shell is non-structural and upheld by a scaffold. It is a permanent structure in the sence that the scaffold is not meant to be dismantled, moved and reerected for convenience. The tent’s only inhabitants are images of other places.
The scaffold is clad in roofing felt challenging the logic of the material and the tent. After its stay at Krøyers Plads it will travel to InstantHERLEV institute’s garden in Herlev.
Somewhere between an object and a place BLACK TENT TOWER remains occluded and distant, but seeks to perform a function. However, it is rather the surplus of unrest, strangeness and curiosity beyond its qualities that makes it a surprising, singular and spectacular encounter with the audience and the context.
